ISSMA Solo & Ensemble is February 4, 2017 at Floyd Central! Last year was the first time in many years that we hosted Solo & Ensemble at Floyd Central, and we were so successful because of the many great student and parent volunteers! This Sign Up is for parent volunteers; there are many different duties for which you can volunteer (Mr. Yankey will have student sign ups in band class). As we did last year, you are welcome to sign up for the entire day (about 8:30am until 2:30-3pm) by signing up for a morning and an afternoon shift. Since this is an ISSMA sanctioned event, there will be a meeting Tuesday, January 31 at 7pm in the Music Theory Room (across the hallway from the bandroom) hosted by Mr. Yankey who will give instruction on the ISSMA guidelines. Even if you volunteered last year and attended that meeting, it’s still a good idea to attend this year for a refresher and get any questions answered. Should you have a student who will be performing that day, we will do everything we can so you can see your student perform. As always, thank you for all you do for our kids!
Areas where help is needed:
Room Monitors–help with performance room flow; keep the performance rooms running on time. Mark off students that have checked in, performed, and record their ratings on the sheet outside the door; make sure adjudication sheets get handed off to student runners to go to headquarters for tabulation.
Headquarters–receive adjudication sheets from student runners. Check math to make sure appropriate rating was received. Categorize adjudication sheets by school, so they are ready for pick up by School Directors.
Medal Table–hand out medals to performers when they present their medal redemption card.
Float–you will cover for any parent volunteers so they can see their student perform, or if they need a bathroom break.
Set up–the evening before (February 3), help with hanging signage for the event (the time for this is flexible as this can be done when volunteers are available–after school or in the evening). You can volunteer for this and also on the day of the event in another role if you wish.
Tear Down–after the event, take down signage, and put away for next year’s use.
